RFC Digital Wireless Controller (512 RFC)

All Elkatherm RFC version electric radiators ( except the ultra low SK 23cm Series) include an integral RFC radio receiver. They are used together with the Battery Operated 512 RFC Remote Controller, which is used to efficiently program your heating requirements, using either a single radiator, or a group of radiators together, for the same temperature and timing settings.

Additional 512 RFC Wireless Controllers are used to create separate 'heating zones' with different temperature and heating timing settings. e.g. living areas and bedrooms.

Battery Operated Wireless Digital Remote ControllerIntegral Radiator Receiver and Battery Operated Wireless ControllerElkatherm 'Smooth Release' Electric Heating

Each 512 RFC controller is battery operated (3 x AA) and requires no electrical wiring.Control and heating programming is by a coded radio link to the receiver in each Elkatherm 'RFC' version radiator. Multiple adjacent installations do not interfer with each other. Just mount the 512 RFC Controller on the wall in a convenient place and you have easy and fully controllable heating.
  • Using the modern energy saving battery operated wireless digital clock thermostat control options you can then pre - program 'COMFORT' heating settings of around 20 - 21 degrees C for the exact periods your rooms are occupied, and also 'ECO LOWER' temperature settings for the times you are away at work, your rooms are unoccupied, or at night times
  • By using the ECO lower temperature setting properly your heating uses only a small amount of energy - and gives 'background heat' for your living space which will not then cool down completely. Early in the morning, and in the evenings when returning home, have your digital controller set to return to the 'COMFORT' setting and your rooms will be warm again very quickly.

Elkatherm Radiator Design Information

Elkatherm Electric Radiators are constructed for 'non stop' operation. During their operation the power supply is interupted many times an hour by the thermostat - even when continuously heating. The distribution of heat into your room is not affected by this due to the advanced 'smooth heat release' radiator design. Elkatherm electric radiators warm directly, efficiently and evenly by maintaining a 20 minute heat reserve within the slim 'thermal core' centre sections of each unit - much like the warm water does in a conventional boiler heated 'wet' system.

Elkatherm Smooth Warmth CoreElkatherm 'S' Series 'Smooth Release' RadiatorHeat DistributionIntegral Radiator Receiver and Battery Operated Wireless Controller

Because of their advanced design Elkatherm 'smooth heat release' radiators can always give off warmth when in operation. The essential natural room convection current is constantly maintained. This means that that your previously heated air - which rises towards the ceiling -  is being continually drawn back down to floor level to be reused - saving you energy and money. Additional power is drawn in highly controlled amounts to top up the heat reserve as the thermostat accurately reacts to control the room temperature.

Whilst installation is very straight forward any mains electrical wiring alterations must always be undertaken by a professional person

Key Product Features

Storage Heater Replacements

When trying to store heat from the early mornings on 'cheap rate' some of the 'heat charge' is lost by the evening, when you actually really need it. An inaccurate guess also has to be made about how much 'heat charge' to try to keep in the storage heaters, which adds more inefficiency - too much then it is wasted energy - too little, and they often have to be boosted again in the evening anyway.

You can still use 'economy 7'  or 'economy 10' rate to warm up your home in the early mornings, before 8.00am. Less energy is then used in maintaining room temperatures through the day. With accurate timers, thermostats and direct acting modern efficient radiators use power only when you actually need to.

How to Heat Properly

When a room has cooled out over a few days any form of heating will take several hours to reach a comfortable temperature.

Heat the rooms you spend most of your time in continuously.

Using our modern wireless digital clock thermostat control options you can choose a 'comfort' heating setting of around 20 - 21 degrees C for the exact period your rooms are occupied, and also a 'set back' lower ECO temperature of around 15 degrees C for the period your rooms are unoccupied, or at night time.

This way your heating uses only a small amount of energy overnight - and your living space does not cool down completely. Early in the morning, and in the evenings when returning home, have your controller set to return to 'comfort' and your rooms will be warm again very quickly.

Elkatherm heating radiators are constructed for 'non stop' operation which does not influence their very long lifespan. During their operation the power supply is interupted many times an hour - even when continuously heating. The distribution of heat into your room is not affected by this due to the advanced 'smooth heat release'
thermal core of Elkatherm radiators.

Installation

The electric radiators can be connected easily to a regular earthed constant supply 230 volt / 13 amp power outlet. For larger installations use a separate power supply ring for some or all of your radiators.

The ideal situation for a radiator is under the window on an outside wall, as this eliminates the possibility of draughts, and also gives the correct and even room air circulation. A minimum distance of 10 cm from the floor to the lower edge of the radiator is required to ensure good air circulation.

Installation on an inside wall is also possible but may result in uneven room air circulation. The radiator will heat to a safety maximum of 70 degrees C. Do not cover the radiator whilst in operation.
